From its foundation in  1870 St Peter's School, Devizes provided a happy, caring and successful school environment for children of Devizes.


For its first 140 years it occupied two sites in the Bath Road, Devizes, both close to its founding church -  

 1870

The original school building was on a piece of land between St Peter's church and the Kennet and Avon Canal;
it is now the home of Taylor Made Childcare Nursery.

The School moved a very short distance into a building, constructed in 1906 and formerly part of Devizes Grammar School before it was merged into the comprehensive system. 

... 2012

After 6 years' work in planning by and implementation by the the School Governors a brand new building was constructed in the Quaker's Walk housing development on the other side of Devizes. 

The School is now known as the The Trinity C of E Voluntary Aided School.  It opened on the new site on 16th April, 2012

Edith Pickering MBE, who was deputy head of St Peter’s for 25 years from 1964, has gathered a large archive of recollections from former pupils and staff of St Peter’s School. Edith is pictured left, standing by a stained glass window in the church depicting Jesus teaching the children; this window was adopted by St Peter’s School as its own.

The Archive compiled by Edith will be available at
- The Library at Wiltshire Heritage Museum in Long Street, Devizes
for those who wish to explore further the memories of St Peter’s School, and the part it has played in the history of the town.
